Pros: This tan is smooth to apply and gives good colour . The 60 minute Quick result is great for anyone who is busy . No more stained bed sheets. No horrible smell, in fact it has a lovely aroma. Comes with black gloves and a mitt. Lasted me 5 weeks and still counting. Non streaky.
Cons: Bit more expensive than other brands. A little messy to apply without a mitt. Be sure to use the fitted attachment (Helps stop spillage) if you are planning on taking this self tan out and about in your bag!!

review of fake bakes 60 minute self tanUpon hearing many friends raving about this new product I was just dying to give it a try and must admit I was not disappointed. Quoted by fake bake as “A revolutionary, express, self tan liquid which develops into a beautiful, natural looking tan in 60 minutes” I had my reservations.  But I must say I was impressed.

What can I say but wow wow wow. So impressed with this product in every way. The tan itself has a wonderful smell. It smells like coconut tanning oil which reminds me of my holiday in the Caribbean. It has none of that potato smell you can normally get from a cheaper self tanner!

The packaging is very funky and I was more than pleased to find that with this product came a pair of gloves, a tanning mitt and an attachment, which helps to save the tan from leaking if you’re carrying it around in your bag etc.

Before applying, I exfoliated as per usual and followed the instructions for using the mitt, which really works well this product and makes it extremely easy to apply. I used it sparingly as I wanted to see what kind of results I could get without slathering up.

The colour guide isn’t as dark as the fake bake regular tanning lotion but develops over time along with the tan. It goes on very smoothly and evenly, is light weight, and doesn’t give you that sticky after feel like some tans do.

The tan absorbed rapidly into my skin and dried very quickly. I wanted to be as dark as possible from the first application so instead of following the 60 minute guide I left it on for just under 3 hours instead. (The box advises you not to go over the 3 hour mark and since I have fair skin, I chose to follow what it said). I like to be quite dark when I’ve tanned so I thought it would take someone with fair skin like me at least two applications.

It’s the most evenly coloured tan I’ve had so far and even my back, which I did myself, is perfectly matching in colour… I don’t think leaving it on for the proclaimed ‘60 minutes‘ would have been enough on my skin but if you are looking to just get rid of the ‘white glare’ then an hour will be enough for you to gain a pretty good result. After the first couple of weeks I discovered that if I use more of the tan on the initial application after exfoliation, I only need to apply once every 5 days or so to keep a good continuous colour.

I would definitely recommend this product. I have had my bottle five weeks now and still have a fair amount left!

This is a totally unbiased review of Fake Bakes 60 minute self tan. I must conclude that I am very happy with this product and the price is more than fair for this well known, established brand. The overall motto would be ‘you pay for what you get’!
